I think trying out new things ‘irl’ is a good way to find ideas for stories, and I always enjoy it when a writer re-tells their own adventures (especially because they’re able to write it in a way that it sounds 100 times more exciting hehe).

There’s also a little trick from Malcolm Gladwell which I’ve started to use: He recommends to check out the sources of footnotes in a book or read the bibliography at the end to fuel your curiosity about a certain subject, as it gives away other topics that relate to it. Suddenly I’m on the book equivalent to a YouTube spiral and queue up (way too many) articles and books on my to-read list.

And I will definitely put the ones you mentioned in the article into practice!
